Colin Dinyar made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reed Conn, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Bambino, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Conemaugh Township was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when United and Penns Manor meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Comets. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Comets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Ryan Felix was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brendan James, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
United's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Conemaugh Township, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
United's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Conemaugh Township hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. It's a different story for United, though, as they've only averaged .229. Will they be able to contain Conemaugh Township's hitters?
