Recap: Parkland Mustangs vs. Davie War Eagles
The Parkland Mustangs pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 72-64 to Davie. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (62), Parkland still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Parkland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brock Jackson. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with three steals. Jackson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Joshua Moore was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Davie's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Powers, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Powers has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Ratledge, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Parkland's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-7. As for Davie, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.
Parkland won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Winston-Salem Christian at 12:00 p.m. on January 13th. Winston-Salem Christian is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Davie, they will head out on the road to square off against Glenn at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Glenn will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 339th, while Davie is ranked 23rd).
