With a playoff win on the line, Johnson County rose to the challenge on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers 34-7. Considering the Trojans have won nine contests by more than 25 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Johnson County found their leader in sophomore Jeremiah Scott, who rushed for 101 yards and three scores on only eight carries, and also picked up 31 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Tayshawn Norris, who gained 75 total yards and a touchdown.
Johnson County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 276 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 190 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Johnson County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Scott. Dewayne Abrams was another major factor on D, picking up 2.5 sacks, forcing one fumble, and making seven total tackles (4.5 for loss).
Johnson County's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
