Preview: Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes vs. Valley Vikings
The Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes will head out on the road to face off against the Valley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Pojoaque Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Pojoaque Valley beat Capital 41-35. The victory was just what Pojoaque Valley needed coming off of a 71-15 defeat in their prior matchup.
Pojoaque Valley can attribute much of their success to Kaylee Martinez , who scored 15 points, and Marisela Bowie, who scored 6 points along with 13 rebounds and 5 steals.
Meanwhile, Valley had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They received a tough blow as they fell 52-33 to Albuquerque. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Valley in their matchups with Albuquerque: they've now lost five in a row.
The losing side was boosted by Giana Roybal, who scored 12 points along with 4 steals.
The win got Pojoaque Valley back to even at 1-1. As for Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
