Football Recap: Strong Performance on D from Jayce Wiggins and Max Unrien Leads Fruita Monument over Rock Canyon

Rock Canyon came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Fruita Monument, but Cooper Rowell wouldn't allow it. The Wildcats blew past the Jaguars 35-13 on Friday thanks in part to Rowell, who rushed for 110 yards and two TDs on only ten carries, and also threw for 190 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 passes. His longest rush was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Fruita Monument didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jayce Wiggins and Max Unrien. Wiggins also made four total tackles, which is notable because Fruita Monument is 3-1 when he posts at least four total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise. Unrien got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Although Rock Canyon took the loss, they still got scores from Evan Diebold and Vinny Melville.

Fruita Monument now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Rock Canyon, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Fruita Monument wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 62-7 loss against Mountain Vista on the 16th. As for Rock Canyon, they have also already played their next game, a 20-17 defeat against Castle View on the 18th.
