Basketball Game Preview: Milford Christian Conquerors vs. Odenton Christian EAGLES

The Milford Christian Conquerors will take on the Odenton Christian EAGLES at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses dating back to last season for Milford Christian and three for Odenton Christian.

Milford Christian is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Independent Baptist Academy on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Milford Christian was beaten by Independent Baptist Academy 65-22. The Conquerors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-10.

Milford Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Esdras Mateo, who posted nine points along with seven boards and six steals, and Jonah Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. Johnson is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least 11 every time he's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Milford Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Odenton Christian lost 54-32 to Independent Baptist Academy last Friday. While losing is never fun, the EAGLES can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Kings are ranked 66th).

Milford Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Odenton Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
