Basketball Game Preview: Milford Christian Conquerors vs. Independent Baptist Academy Kings

The Milford Christian Conquerors will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Independent Baptist Academy Kings at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Milford Christian has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Independent Baptist Academy will arrive with six straight wins.

On Tuesday, Milford Christian came up short against Bayview Christian and fell 48-38.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Keegan Fitzwater, who posted 12 points and six steals. Jonah Johnson was another key player, putting up five points in addition to 27 rebounds and six blocks.

Even though they lost, Milford Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Independent Baptist Academy got the win against Odenton Christian on Friday by a conclusive 54-32. The Kings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 21 points or more this season.

Independent Baptist Academy found their leader in sophomore Jacob Rainey, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance gave Rainey a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Kirby, who had nine points and seven boards.

Milford Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Independent Baptist Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Milford Christian took a serious blow against Independent Baptist Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 59-8. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Milford Christian was down 36-5.
