Baseball Recap: Tamalpais Beats San Rafael for Their Third Straight Win

Tamalpais waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the San Rafael Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-1 last Tuesday.

Eli Solem made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Tito Fierstein and Henry Stoll did most of the damage at the plate: Fierstein scored a run while going 3-for-5, while Stoll went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave Fierstein a new career-high. Maxwell Fiek was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Tamalpais was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Tamalpais' record now sits at 5-2. As for San Rafael, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-5.

Tamalpais didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-3 win against Alameda on the 15th. As for San Rafael, they will welcome Terra Linda at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Terra Linda's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so San Rafael's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
