Basketball Game Preview: Collinsville Kahoks vs. Edwardsville Tigers

The Collinsville Kahoks will head out on the road to face off against the Edwardsville Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Collinsville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season.

Collinsville fought the good fight in their overtime game against Glenwood on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 43-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Kahoks have suffered since December 20, 2024.

Collinsville's loss came about despite a quality game from Donovan Coates, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 23 points. The contest was Coates' third in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Solomon Talbott, who posted seven points.

Meanwhile, Edwardsville had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 70-51 victory over the Flyers. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Flyers are ranked 147th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Collinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 15-14. As for Edwardsville, they pushed their record up to 25-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Collinsville came up short against Edwardsville in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 45-41. Can Collinsville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
