Recap: Maiden Blue Devils vs. West Caldwell Warriors

After flying high against the West Lincoln Rebels last Friday, the Maiden Blue Devils came back down to earth. Maiden took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Caldwell on Wednesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Maiden in their matchups with West Caldwell: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Maiden had strong showings from Landon Teague, who scored 24 points, and Raheim Misher, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Teague scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tae Maze, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.

West Caldwell got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Patterson out in front who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Patterson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaydin Dixon, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 1 assist.

Maiden has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for West Caldwell, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maiden will face off against Bandys at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bandys focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Wednesday. As for West Caldwell, they will head out on the road to challenge Lincolnton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincolnton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 966 points over their last 13 matches.
