Football Game Preview: Fairfield Central Griffins vs. Clinton Red Devils + How To Watch

The Fairfield Central Griffins will take on the Clinton Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Fairfield Central comes in on four and Clinton on seven.

Fairfield Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Andrew Jackson a 36-0 shutout. The Griffins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by 29 points or more this season.

A big part of Fairfield Central's victory came down to the chemistry between Kaden Diggs and his top target Ty'Quarius Shannon. Diggs threw for 97 yards and three touchdowns on only eight passes while Shannon picked up 87 receiving yards and three scores. What's more, Diggs racked up 144.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Fairfield Central also got a significant boost from Derek Cammon, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 93 yards.

Fairfield Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. Brenton Mack and Kaylin Culp each grabbed an interception.

Meanwhile, Clinton earned a 35-25 win over Saluda on Friday.

Fairfield Central better keep an eye on Javen Cook. He was instrumental in Clinton's win, rushing for 236 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.8 yards per carry. Cook is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last nine games he's played.

Clinton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 400 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 219 rushing yards in 21 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Fairfield Central's record now sits at 9-3. As for Clinton, their record is now an identical 9-3.

Fairfield Central came up short against Clinton when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 32-21. Thankfully for the Griffins, Tushawan Richardson (who rushed for 102 yards and one score on only eight carries, and also threw for 104 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five passes) won't be suiting up this time.
