Volleyball Recap: Sotomayor Extends Winning Streak to Four

Sotomayor extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Zoey Aguayo. The WILDCATS came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Taft Raiders thanks in part to Aguayo, who had 25 assists and 13 digs. She has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more assists the last three times she's played.

Sotomayor wouldn't go down easily and took Taft into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-14, 18-25, 20-25, 16-14.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sotomayor to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marina Soliz, who had 13 digs and one assist. The team also got some help courtesy of Julieta Munoz, who had 17 assists and three digs.

When it comes to explaining why Taft lost on Tuesday, don't look at Addison Duarte. Despite the final result, she had 24 assists and 14 digs. With that strong performance, Duarte is now averaging an impressive 12.1 assists per game. Taylor Lee was another key player, getting 23 assists and six digs.

Sotomayor's victory bumped their record up to 20-18. As for Taft, they moved to 23-13 with that loss, which also ended their four-match winning streak.

Sotomayor wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Warren on the 17th. As for Taft, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Harlan on the 17th.
