Basketball Recap: Samantha Marks' Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Central over New Prairie

South Central extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-4. They received a blow as they fell 61-45 to the New Prairie Cougars. Surprisingly, this marked the Satellites' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Several Satellites players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Samantha Marks, who posted 14 points along with eight boards and four steals. With that strong performance, Marks is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Ashlen Strauch was another key player, putting up 11 points.

As for New Prairie, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their 21-point performance the game before.

New Prairie's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Makenzie Griffiths, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Addi Luther also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Coming up, South Central will take on Knox at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Prairie, they will face off against South Bend Saint Joseph at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
