Football Recap: Rensselaer Central Piles Up the Points Against River Forest

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rensselaer Central). They breezed past the River Forest Ingots to the tune of 57-17 on Friday. With the Bombers ahead 29-9 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Carter Ogborn was his usual excellent self, rushing for 278 yards and five scores while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Those 278 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Rensselaer Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 341 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Rensselaer Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Landen Musch and Chris Crouch. Crouch got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win was the third in a row for Rensselaer Central, bringing their record up to 6-2. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.0 points on average over those games. As for River Forest, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rensselaer Central will take on Logansport at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Ogborn and Elliot Baldini. As for River Forest, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Lake Station Edison at 7:00 p.m.
