Softball Game Preview: River View Panthers vs. Pe Ell/Willapa Valley

The River View Panthers will square off against Pe Ell/Willapa Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

River View is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Coupeville 18-2. River View's victory was all the more impressive since the Wolves were averaging only 3.86 runs allowed on the season.

Kaydence Mathews made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Mathews was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Danika Koch was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Bree Stacy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

River View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in 16 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Pe Ell/Willapa Valley made easy work of Rainier on Friday and carried off an 11-4 win. Pe Ell/Willapa Valley hasn't had any issues with Rainier recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Pe Ell/Willapa Valley's win bumped their record up to 21-7. As for River View, their victory bumped their record up to 19-3.

River View might still be hurting after the 28-5 loss they got from Pe Ell/Willapa Valley in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
