Basketball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Palmetto Ridge's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Palmetto Ridge hadn't done well against Naples recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Palmetto Ridge Bears came out on top against the Naples Golden Eagles by a score of 53-40. With that win, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.

It was another big night for Melody Charlton, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in assists. Haley Cousins was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

Charlton wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Palmetto Ridge was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Naples only racked up ten assists.

Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Juliana Argueta, who posted two points along with five assists, five boards, and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lizie Froloff, who put up seven points and three steals.

Palmetto Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.1 points per game. As for Naples, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Palmetto Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-36 defeat against Aubrey Rogers on the 7th. As for Naples, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 71-14 victory against Immokalee on the 7th.
