Football Game Preview: Sandburg Eagles vs. Lincoln-Way East Griffins + Official Tickets

Sandburg is 1-8 against Lincoln-Way East since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Eagles will face off against the Griffins at 7:00 p.m. Sandburg's defense has only allowed 14.8 points per game this season, so Lincoln-Way East's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Sandburg was handed a 21-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Neuqua Valley 24-21.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 42 points the game before, Lincoln-Way East was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They took a 14-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Naperville North. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Griffins came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Huskies are ranked 37th).

Having lost for the first time this season, Lincoln-Way East fell to 7-1. As for Sandburg, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Sandburg was dealt a bruising 42-14 loss at the hands of Lincoln-Way East in their previous meeting back in October of 2023. Thankfully for the Eagles, Braden Tischer (who threw for 125 yards and two TDs while completing 72.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 30 yards) won't be suiting up this time.
