Preview: Papillion-LaVista Monarchs vs. Elkhorn South Storm
Papillion-LaVista and Elkhorn South are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Papillion-LaVista Monarchs will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Elkhorn South Storm at 7:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Saturday, Papillion-LaVista suffered a rough 58-38 defeat at the hands of Creighton Prep. Papillion-LaVista has not had much luck with Creighton Prep recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Papillion-LaVista got a solid performance out of Brock Rahl, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Garin Maley, who scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Elkhorn South was the victim of a tough 74-54 loss at the hands of Pius X on Saturday. Even though they lost, Elkhorn South's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 51 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Despite the loss, Elkhorn South had strong showings from Aidan Skradis, who scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds, and Owen Musil, who scored 16 points. Skradis scored a full 40.7% of Elkhorn South's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 1-1 season records intact.
