Volleyball Game Preview: St. George's Gryphons vs. Oakland Patriots

The St. George's Gryphons will be taking part in a tournament against the Oakland Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, St. George's turned things around against St. Benedict at Auburndale on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Eagles.

St. George's was especially dominant in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-12, 17-25, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Oakland sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Riverdale on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Patriots have posted against the Warriors since October 2, 2022.

Oakland wouldn't go down easily and took Riverdale into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. The final score came out to 25-23, 24-26, 20-25, 25-23, 15-7.

St. George's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Oakland, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
