Football Game Preview: Peotone Blue Devils vs. Coal City Coalers

Peotone is 1-7 against Coal City since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Blue Devils will be playing at home against the Coalers at 7:00 p.m.

Peotone blew Reed-Custer out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Reed-Custer got their revenge. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Comets by a score of 31-28.

Meanwhile, Coal City came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Panthers 55-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Coalers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Panthers are ranked 269th).

Peotone's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Coal City, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Things could have been worse for Peotone, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 27-13 loss to Coal City in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
