Basketball Recap: Brennen Taft Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Sarasota Christian

Imagine School at North Port hadn't done well against Sarasota Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Imagine School at North Port Sharks came out on top against the Sarasota Christian Blazers by a score of 54-41. The Sharks pushed the score to 48-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Blazers cut but never quite recovered from.

Imagine School at North Port's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brennen Taft led the charge by putting up nine points in addition to seven assists and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Taft a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Jordan Kirkus, who went 5 of 9 en route to 14 points.

Taft wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Imagine School at North Port was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sarasota Christian only posted seven assists.

Despite the loss, Sarasota Christian still got an impressive performance from Justin Brock, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 15 points and six steals. Brock is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Randall Collins, who posted three points and nine rebounds.

Imagine School at North Port has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Sarasota Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.

Imagine School at North Port will square off against North Port at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sarasota Christian, they will challenge Cambridge Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
