Basketball Recap: Mekhi Parrish's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Monument Valley over Show Low

If Monument Valley was riding high fresh off their 72-44 takedown of Round Valley last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Monument Valley Mustangs fell just short of the Show Low Cougars by a score of 62-59 on Thursday. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in November of 2023.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mekhi Parrish, who went 7 of 16 en route to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Latrell Begay, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 18 points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Monument Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Monument Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Show Low, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-12.

Monument Valley has already played their next game, a 58-53 win against Window Rock on the 18th. As for Show Low, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-38 victory against Blue Ridge on the 17th.
