McCutcheon had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Crawfordsville on Wednesday. The Mavericks put the hurt on the Athenians with a sharp 3-0 win. The Mavericks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Athenians, too.

McCutcheon's got stronger as the match went on, holding Crawfordsville to fewer and fewer points set over set. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-12, 25-9.

Joshua Madsen paced McCutcheon's offense, picking up ten kills. Madsen got some help from Kieraan Jordan and his 30 assists. Korbin Vanette controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

McCutcheon now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Crawfordsville, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.
