Basketball Recap: Del Norte Starts off Right with Win over Valencia

Del Norte had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Valencia Jaguars by a score of 54-46 on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Knights also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2024.

Francois Satchivi was a one-man wrecking crew as he went 7-for-12 en route to 22 points. Mumin Omer was another key player, putting up nine points and eight rebounds.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carin Bustillos, who posted 14 points along with six assists and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Porter, who had 14 points.

Valencia's loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Del Norte will square off against Organ Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Valencia, they will face off against Taos at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Jaguars will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
