Soccer Game Preview: O'Connor vs. Brennan

The O'Connor Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Brennan Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

O'Connor came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 6-1 to Harlan. While losing is never fun, O'Connor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 426th, while Harlan are ranked 110th).

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Brennan's offense. They came up short against Harlan on Friday, falling 3-0. The shutout was out of character for Brennan seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in January.

Brennan now has a losing record of 7-8-2. As for O'Connor, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9-4 record this season.

O'Connor beat Brennan by a goal in their previous meeting back in January, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
