Kinston had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 30-7 margin over the James Kenan Tigers on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won seven games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Leading Kinston to victory were Genesis Wiggins and Tyler Jones. Wiggins gained 95 total yards and two touchdowns, while Jones threw for 184 yards and three TDs. Jones' passing game has become a key predictor of the Vikings' success: the team is 10-2 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

When it comes to explaining why James Kenan lost, don't look at Jeremiah Hall. Despite the final result, he rushed for 128 yards and one score. Hall's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 105 rushing yards.

The victory (which was Kinston's fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.2 points on average over those games. As for James Kenan, they moved to 12-2 with that loss, which also ended their 11-game winning streak.

Coming up, Kinston will venture away from home to square off against Shelby at 2:00 p.m. on the 13th. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Golden Lions have now posted at least 31 points in their last 12 contests. James Kenan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
