Baseball Recap: North Fork Comes Up Short

North Fork was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bennett Tigers. If the Miners were looking for revenge after losing 15-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

North Fork saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braxtyn Smith, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

North Fork's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Bennett, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Looking ahead, North Fork will be taking part in a tournament against The Classical Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Titans' pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so the Miners' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bennett, they will take on University in a tournament on Saturday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
