Dakota hasn't had much luck against Freeport recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Dakota will square off against Freeport at 1:00 p.m. Dakota is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

While Dakota's win against Warren/Stockton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Dakota narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Warren/Stockton 6-4. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Warhawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Camden Dieken looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Dakota let Braxton Mazurkiewicz and Brayden Larson run wild. Mazurkiewicz went 2-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Larson scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That triple was Mazurkiewicz's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brodie Goode, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Dakota kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Freeport didn't have quite enough to beat Forreston on Friday and fell 14-12.

Dakota pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Freeport, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Dakota suffered a grim 15-9 defeat to Freeport in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Dakota avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
