Softball Recap: Blue Ridge's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Blue Ridge entered their tilt with Mountain View on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-6 back in April.

Trista Laude spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Blue Ridge got a massive performance out of Hailey Carpenetti, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Malia Valentine also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Blue Ridge's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain View, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Coming up, Blue Ridge will head out on the road to square off against Forest City at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Foresters have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.23 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. Mountain View does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
