Football Recap: Caston Takes a Loss

Caston extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-6. They were outmatched by the North Judson-San Pierre Bluejays and fell 35-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Comets were not able to get on the board.

Gavin Mollenkopf threw for 31 yards on six of 18 attempts. On the ground, Reed Sommers rushed for 32 yards.

As for North Judson-San Pierre, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.1 points on average over those games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Judson-San Pierre to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ayson Harper, who rushed for 73 yards, and also threw for 30 yards and two touchdowns. What's more, Harper racked up 135.4 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Zander Nowak was in the mix as well, providing North Judson-San Pierre with two TDs.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Caston is set to challenge their familiar foe Winamac at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, North Judson-San Pierre will take on rival Pioneer at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Bluejays 11.9, the Panthers 11.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
