Recap: Wenonah Dragons vs. Pleasant Grove Spartans
After a string of five wins, the Wenonah Dragons's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 65-58 to Pleasant Grove. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Wenonah lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jakerria Ringstaff, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Ringstaff is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Samarian Franklin, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Wenonah's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-7. As for Pleasant Grove, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.
Wenonah's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Fultondale at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st. Fultondale will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Wenonah is ranked 53rd). Pleasant Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
