Parkland gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They slipped by the Atkins Camels 70-69. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Camels: they've now won four in a row.

Keishaun Gregory had a dynamite game, going 9-for-17 en route to 20 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. Another player making a difference was Khorbyn Bowser, who shot 60% from the field to rack up 16 points and three steals.

Parkland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Atkins only pulled down four.

When it comes to explaining why Atkins lost, don't look at Abram Talbert. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-13 on his way to 27 points. Bryan Yeboah was another key player, putting up 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds.

Atkins now has a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Parkland will face off against Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Atkins, they will head out on the road to take on North Surry at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
