Football Recap: South Wake Takes a Loss

South Wake extended their losing streak to nine on Friday, dropping them down to 0-9. They had to suffer through a 41-6 loss at the hands of the SouthLake Christian Academy Eagles. The Lions were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

As for SouthLake Christian Academy, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

SouthLake Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Gandy, who threw for 408 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.2 yards per attempt. The dominant performance also gave Gandy a new career-high in rushing yards (15). Houston Hudgens also helped with two scores in total.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Wake will challenge North Wake S at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Lions' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for SouthLake Christian Academy, they will take on Trinity Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Crusaders' defense has only allowed 13.1 points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them.
