Basketball Game Preview: Heritage Panthers vs. San Jose Prep Storm

Having just played yesterday, the Heritage Panthers will jump right back in to play the San Jose Prep Storm at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, Heritage ended up a good deal behind Timber Creek and lost 49-34. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Heritage's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Oda Tveiten, who posted 16 points, and Jordyn Baker, who put up 14 points.

Meanwhile, San Jose Prep strolled past Thomas County Central with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 60-43. The Storm pushed the score to 51-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Yellow Jackets cut but never quite recovered from.

Heritage better focus on containing Elena Atanaskovic and Mia Chandler as the pair were huge in San Jose Prep's win. Atanaskovic went 5-for-11 to rack up 15 points and five steals, while Chandler dropped a double-double with ten points and 13 rebounds. With that strong performance, Chandler is now averaging an impressive 2.6 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jania Ervin, who shot 42% from the field on her way to 11 points along with seven boards and four steals.

San Jose Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for San Jose Prep, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
