After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Campolindo, Northgate was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mt. Eden Monarchs a 9-0 shutout. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Max Carlos looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Christopher Flores, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Mierzwa, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one double.
Northgate was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Eden only posted a batting average of .174.
Northgate's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Mt. Eden, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-7.
Coming up, Northgate will be taking part in a tournament against Dublin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mt. Eden, they are taking a road trip to face off against Pittsburg at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Monarchs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
