Basketball Recap: Abigail Tomasko's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Platte Canyon over Skyview Academy

Platte Canyon lost against SkyView Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Huskies took a 41-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Abigail Tomasko, who posted 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Kadence Pietro was another key player, putting up four points and five boards.

SkyView Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Evelyn Gilbert led the charge by dropping a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 points gave Gilbert a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Barrett, who shot 41% from the field to rack up 15 points and four steals.

Platte Canyon now has a losing record of 1-2. As for SkyView Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, Platte Canyon will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against South Park at 5:30 p.m. As for SkyView Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Platte Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
