The Immokalee Indians are taking a road trip to take on the Gulf Coast Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Immokalee will be strutting in after a win while Gulf Coast will be coming in after a loss.
On Friday, Immokalee really took it to Aubrey Rogers for the full four quarters, racking up a 47-3 victory. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 34 points or more this season.
Marshon Jackson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, picking up 66 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 41 yards and one score. He showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 55 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Immokalee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 282 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 251 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Immokalee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. Jose Fenelon picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Gulf Coast fell victim to Bishop Verot and their airtight defense on Friday. They took a blow against the Vikings, falling 42-0. While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Vikings are ranked 68th).
Immokalee pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.3 points over those games. As for Gulf Coast, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Immokalee has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 241.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Gulf Coast struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 298.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Immokalee didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Gulf Coast in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 36-30 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
