Basketball Game Preview: Discovery Spartans vs. Lakeland Dreadnaughts

The Discovery Spartans will square off against the Lakeland Dreadnaughts at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Discovery knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Lakeland likes a good challenge.

Discovery easily dispatched Sebring on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Discovery fell just short of Gateway Charter by a score of 69-66 on Saturday. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Lakeland's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 71-63 to Hawthorne. While losing is never fun, the Dreadnaughts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Hornets are ranked 90th).

Discovery's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Lakeland, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Discovery was taken down by Lakeland 86-50 when the teams last played back in December of 2017. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Discovery was down 49-26.
