Softball Recap: Winston County Find Success

Winston County saw some tournament action on Friday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Priceville Bulldogs. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Yellowjackets.

Maggie Courington made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Courington was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maci Blevins, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs. A.J Sutherland was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.

Winston County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2025.

The win got Winston County back to even at 2-2. As for Priceville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
