Softball Recap: Gaston Bulldogs vs. Spring Garden Panthers
Gaston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 14-11 to the Spring Garden Panthers. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 17-1 to the Panthers when the teams met back in April of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Mylie Harper and Autumn Goodrich stepped up to the plate in a big way. Harper went 3-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and one RBI, while Goodrich went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those runs marked the first that Goodrich has scored this season. Another player making a difference was Mychaela Jemison, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Gaston's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Spring Garden, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Coming up, Gaston will look to defend their home field on Monday against Saks at 5:00 p.m. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.1 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Spring Garden, they will venture away from home to challenge Cherokee County at 4:30 p.m. on the 30th.
