Baseball Recap: Callaway Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Callaway ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Whitefield Academy WolfPack 11-10. The Cavaliers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jeremiah Staples was incredible, going 2-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season. Brody Swanson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Callaway's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 2.8 runs. As for Whitefield Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Callaway will take on Shaw at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Shaw is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Whitefield Academy, they will square off against Paideia at 5:30 p.m. on March 10th.
