Volleyball Recap: Tupelo Takes a Loss

Tupelo lost against DeSoto Central back in August and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Golden Wave fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 3-2. The Golden Wave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Tupelo actually scored more points across those five sets (110-105), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 26-24, 26-24, 17-25, 21-25, 15-12.

Kennedi Simmons paced Tupelo's offense, picking up 21 kills. Simmons got some help from Reese Barbles and her 24 assists. Barbles was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Among those leading the charge was Remy Mcintosh, who had 19 digs and five aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in September of 2024.

Tupelo's defeat dropped their record down to 19-13. As for DeSoto Central, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-9.

Coming up, Tupelo will be playing at home against Saltillo at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for DeSoto Central, they have already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Lake Cormorant on the 27th.
