Football Game Preview: Freeburg Midgets vs. Priory Ravens

The Freeburg Midgets will head out on the road to take on the Priory Ravens at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Freeburg is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Freeburg is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Salem: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Midgets blew the Wildcats out of the water with a 45-18 final score. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Midgets' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Wildcats are ranked 309th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Freeburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cooper Kisgen, who rushed for 82 yards and one TD on only ten carries, and also picked up 46 receiving yards. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Gentry Brentlinger, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Priory took a blow against Principia/Whitfield on Friday, falling 68-33.

Priory has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Freeburg, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Everything came up roses for Freeburg against Priory in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 55-21 win. In that contest, the Midgets amassed a halftime lead of 34-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
