Baseball Recap: Grafton Starts Season with Win at Home

Grafton took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Living Word Lutheran Timberwolves. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Black Hawks also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2019.

Luke Michalak was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Will Heinz and Zachary Plier did most of the damage at the plate: Heinz scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Plier scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Heinz a new career-high.

Grafton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Living Word Lutheran only posted a batting average of .136.

Grafton has already played their next match, a 16-5 win against Catholic Memorial on the 8th. As for Living Word Lutheran, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-0 victory against Kenosha Christian Life on the 8th.
