Basketball Recap: Desert Sunrise Comes Up Short

Desert Sunrise was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Cactus Shadows Falcons, falling 66-19. The Golden Hawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-8.

Despite the loss, Desert Sunrise saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Shayla Hill posted seven points and four steals. Hill is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played.

Desert Sunrise's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Cactus Shadows, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6.

Desert Sunrise wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-29 loss against Dysart on the 9th. As for Cactus Shadows, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-45 win against Saguaro on the 10th.
