Softball Recap: Ferris Yellowjackets vs. Venus Bulldogs
If Ferris was riding high fresh off their 19-3 takedown of Life Waxahachie last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Yellowjackets lost 10-4 to the Venus Bulldogs on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 back in March.
Katelyn Wayne was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off six hits.
At the plate, Valorie Carrillo was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Aubrie Henson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
Ferris' loss dropped their record down to 11-10-2. As for Venus, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6-1 record this season.
Ferris wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 16-6 win against Kennedale on the 4th. As for Venus, they have also already played their next game, a 20-9 victory against Hillsboro on the 3rd.
