Volleyball Game Preview: Eastland Cougars vs. Galena Pirates

The Eastland Cougars will take on the Galena Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Eastland sitting on five straight wins and Galena on three.

Eastland is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They won by a set and slipped past Milledgeville 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since October 11th.

Meanwhile, Galena beat Lena-Winslow 2-0 on Wednesday.

Galena's win came from a few key players Eastland will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zoe Blaum, who had 19 digs and two assists. Those 19 digs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Ehrler, who had 33 assists and 14 digs.

Galena's win bumped their record up to 29-6. As for Eastland, their victory bumped their record up to 27-10.

Eastland came up short against Galena in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
