Basketball Recap: Eau Gallie Falls Despite Big Games from Isaiah Cuff and Quentin Hardin

Eau Gallie lost against Rockledge back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Eau Gallie Commodores took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockledge Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Commodores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 573rd, while the Raiders are ranked 204th).

Eau Gallie's loss came despite strong showings from Quentin Hardin and Isaiah Cuff. Hardin went 6 for 12 on his way to 18 points, while Cuff posted 11 points and three steals. Michael Quint was another key player, putting up six points.

Rockledge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damien Bryant, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 14 points along with seven boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Kearns, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Eau Gallie's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Rockledge, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Eau Gallie will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Deltona at 11:30 a.m. on January 2, 2025. Eau Gallie is facing Deltona at the right time seeing as Deltona is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Rockledge will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against Boone at 10:00 a.m. on January 2, 2025.
