Basketball Recap: Richland Takes a Loss

Richland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 63-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Madrid County Central Eagles.

Marvion Cranford was nothing short of spectacular for New Madrid County Central: he went 12 for 14 en route to 25 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Cranford a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ra'Mond Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Richland's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for New Madrid County Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-12 record this season.

Looking ahead, Richland will take on Scott County Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for New Madrid County Central, they will face off against Caruthersville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Caruthersville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully New Madrid County Central likes a good challenge.
