Baseball Game Preview: Fort Myers Green Wave vs. Riverdale Raiders

The Fort Myers Green Wave will face off against the Riverdale Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Fort Myers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Riverdale's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Fort Myers is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Mariner just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 7-3 to the Tritons.

Owen Augustine was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Fort Myers saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cory Banasiak, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Banasiak has posted since back in April of 2024. Adler Baron also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Riverdale earned a 6-2 win over Port Charlotte on Thursday.

The team relied heavily on Wyatt Simmons, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Kayden Beard was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Fort Myers' loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Riverdale, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-4.
